Clark County Detention Center logs show that a man charged with firing at an off-duty Metro Police officer during an apparent road-rage incident Tuesday afternoon is an out-of-state fugitive.
Jail logs show that twenty-one year old Dwight Delancy was arrested and booked on one count of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of discharging a gun into an occupied structure. He is also being held on the out-of-state warrant.
Metro logs show that the unnamed officer called for backup near the intersection of Blue Diamond Road and Interstate 15 around 3:30 p.m.. Lt. Hernandez said that Delancy tried to cut in front of the officer’s car multiple times on Blue Diamond Road, but then pulled up next to the driver’s window and fired in the officer’s direction. It appears no bullets hit anything. However, police investigators recovered at least one bullet from the scene.
After the incident, the officer chased the shooter onto the freeway, where the traffic was backed up and Delancy crashed into another vehicle, Lt. Hernandez said. At that point, a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper and the officer took Delancy into custody. Both the driver of the other car and Delancy were transported to University Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
