Last month on June 28, just before 9 AM, there was a terrible shooting and stabbing incident in Henderson. According to the Henderson Police, the incident took place in the area of St. Rose Parkway and Seven Hills Drive.
It remains unclear what prompted the attack, but once authorities were alerted to the ongoing situation, they discovered a male juvenile in critical condition. The young boy was rushed to a nearby hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. While authorities did not discover this person at the scene, they were later informed that a second person checked themselves into a nearby hospital with multiple stab wounds. Police now believe that person was involved in the shooting incident.
Investigators have since identified four suspects who are all facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder. It remains unclear why they had a vendetta against the minor, especially since all the suspects are 21-years-old and older.
The following suspects have been arrested in connection to the ordeal – Lisa Lang (44 years old), Antoneyo Hamelton, D’Angelo Hamelton, and Ka’Miya Hamelton. D’Angelo is facing an additional charge of attempted murder since it is believed that he is the one who pulled the trigger.
The Henderson Police Department is asking anyone with any information regarding this situation to contact their office at (702) 267-4911. If you’d prefer to submit an anonymous tip without talking to police, then you can contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
While the term “conspiracy” has become trendy in recent years, the concept is taken extremely seriously in the context of the law. In Las Vegas, a criminal conspiracy is defined as the act of two or more people gathering together and making plans to commit a crime. In the context of conspiracy to commit murder, it means that at least two different people came together and plotted out the murder of another person.
This type of crime is extremely serious, and every person who collaborates on the plan or knows about the plan and doesn’t report could get charged with conspiracy. Nevada’s conspiracy laws do differ from other states in that there doesn’t have to be a specific action that is taken to further the group’s goals in order to get convicted of conspiracy. In other states, those in on the plot must have taken steps to further the plans, like purchasing equipment or showing up at a location, but in Nevada, it’s enough just to make plans to commit the act.
In Las Vegas, conspiracy to commit murder comes with a penalty of anywhere from two to ten years in prison. Convicted individuals will also have to pay significant fines of up to $5,000. This charge is also a felony, so convicted individuals will lose out on certain rights, like the right to vote or carry a firearm.
