The Clark County School District is dismayed to announce that a former teacher was arrested after being accused of abusing a special education student during school hours.
At the time of the incident, the suspect was working at Bailey Middle School. Unfortunately, the suspect, 63-year-old Kenneth Greenberg, had been employed at the school since 2016. He was also working as a special education teacher.
According to reports, the arrest stems from an ongoing police investigation. Right now, the suspect has been placed on leave and will not return to the school until the case is resolved.
While details about the arrest remain forthcoming, it’s obvious that the special needs students at Bailey Middle School are extremely vulnerable to abuse. Special needs students might not fully comprehend what’s happening to them, and even if they do recognize that they’re being abused, they may not be able to properly communicate their abuse to their care providers. Even worse, some special needs students may not recognize the abuse and think that it’s normal.
Unfortunately, the Clark County School District has seen an unprecedented wave of violence lately, and this has increased tensions for students, teachers, and parents. This increase in hostility has led to a wave of student and teacher arrests. Near the end of last school year, students in Clark County schools were arrested for bringing firearms to school, hitting, fighting, and similar crimes.
One teacher was arrested for sexual contact with a minor, while another was accused of audio recording his students. A janitor was arrested for sexual assault, and a 28-year-old student success advocate was arrested for alleged sexual contact with a student.
Collectively, this increase in a complete disregard for the law has led to a huge wave of arrests. To help ensure everyone’s safety, it’s necessary to report any acts of violence, sexual assault, or abuse within the school system in Clark County or across the country.
It’s important to consider that the recent wave of arrests, violence, and tension could also lead to an increase in false accusations and false arrests. If you’ve recently been arrested and falsely accused of committing a school-related criminal offense, then it’s important to hire an attorney regardless of whether you are currently a minor or not.
The current situation in Clark County has led to not only an increase in calls for reform but also an increase in calls for guilty verdicts and significant penalties for perceived offenders. You need to ensure that your best interests are considered despite the ongoing situation in the county.
