Early Saturday a man was found dead from a gunshot close to Twain and Torrey Pines. Finding drug paraphernalia inside the apartment, law enforcement officers are pointing to the case as another example of the increase of violent crimes witnessed throughout the valley.
Las Vegas Metro PD said, through a spokesman, “Violent crime in our community has increased 15% from this time last year.”
“For our department this is worrisome. We’re bothered by the amount of violent crime happening,” said Officer Michael Rodriguez.
“The department has added more uniformed officers to the streets which helps raise visibility,” added Rodriguez. “Increased visibility can be a deterrent, but also reduces response time as it increases public engagement.”
While violent crime rates skyrocket and law enforcement handling thousands of calls every day, a person would think the Las Vegas Strip is the prime spot to find police — you’d be wrong.
