Metro Police were called out to a household disturbance at around 10:15 on September 14th. Upon arriving at the 7000 block of Clearwater Avenue, the authorities discovered two individuals that were both armed and in a standoff with each other.
Both individuals refused to surrender, back down, or drop their weapons, so authorities had no choice but to call out a SWAT team. Crisis negotiators attempted to get the two individuals to back down, while nearby homes were evacuated in an abundance of caution. The roads were eventually closed, too.
Finally, at around 2:30 P.M., both individuals were taken into custody without injury. As of now, the police have not yet confirmed what charges the individuals are facing or what exactly led to the dispute in the first place. The investigation is ongoing.
While official charges haven’t been announced yet, there is a good chance that both victims will face domestic violence charges. Under Las Vegas law, domestic violence is defined as any violent crime that’s committed in the context of an intimate, domestic relationship. In other words, any type of violent action that’s committed against someone that you live with would be considered domestic violence.
