On Thursday night, friends gathered to remember the lives of two teens who police say were killed by a drunk driver.
The Clark County coroner has identified the victims as 18-year-old Gabriell Rene Thomas and 17-year-old Kamesha J-Nyah Gilmore.
Friends say the girls grew up in the same home and were practically sisters. “Lord knows nobody needs to die this early,” said friend Alexis Weaver.
The candlelight vigil was held near Commerce and Craig, where they say the young women lived.
The crash happened early Thursday morning on Boulder Highway near Russell. Police say 22-year-old Seong Mo Lee of Henderson was drunk and speeding when he T-boned the victims’ car.
Officers do not believe he hit the brakes. They say he walked away without any injuries and is now behind bars.
Khylia Anderson was close with Kamesha and called her a free spirit, “She was just a very real person.”
Action News was told the two young women had bubbly personalities, spreading love and joy to everyone they knew.
