On March 2nd at around 12:11 A.M., concerned neighbors called the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department when they heard shots ring out in an apartment complex. Police rushed out to the 3000 block of South Decatur Boulevard to the apartments on Saturday.
When they arrived, police discovered two males both suffering from gunshot wounds inside of an apartment unit. Medical personnel rushed to provide care to the men, but both individuals were declared deceased at the scene.
Police began an initial investigation into what happened. Quickly, they learned that the two men had been in a loud, verbal altercation just prior to the gun being fired.
Investigators believe that the fight led the culprit to pulling a weapon on 38-year-old Joshua Dilley. After fatally shooting the victim, the perpetrator is believed to have turned the gun on himself. The identity of the alleged shooter has not yet been released. The Clark County Coroner’s Office is expected to release more information about the two victims, the cause of death, and the manner of death in the coming days.
Investigators are also continuing to look into what happened. For now, the situation has been labeled a murder-suicide.
